Spotify Is Slow
Can you upload music to spotify for free windows 10. 'After updating my iPhone 6 to iOS 14/13, it becomes super slow. Apps hang and close. My purchased music would just stop in the middle of a song. How can I speed up iOS 11 on iPhone 6?'
With many new features available on iOS 11, iPhone users cannot wait to update their iPhone to iOS iOS 14/13. Unfortunately, problems occur to many iPhone 6/6s users. They find their iPhone running slow after update and apps crash. How to speed up iPhone 6s/7/8/X performance on iOS 11? Here are 6 tips to fix it.
1. Free up Storage on Your iPhone 6s
So, I recently purchased a new phone - Galaxy S9 - in hopes that it would be able to run apps quicker than my previous phone - J2 Pro. And for almost everything, it runs perfectly without a problem. However, Spotify still runs like a piece of shit. It's fine when offline, but when connected to a network, it's super slow and laggy. App is super slow, sometimes takes 2 minutes to lo. The Spotify Community App is super slow, sometimes takes 2 minutes to load, and music may cut out every 5 seconds.
Junk files and insufficient storage can cause the slow-down after updating to iOS 14/13. You can try to clean up iPhone storage with an easy tool called Free iCareFone Cleaner. This professional iOS cleaning tool can quickly scan all the junk files, large files, temporary files and other unnecessary data and let you clean them out with one simple click.
- Download and install Tenorshare iCareFone Cleaner on your computer and then connect iPhone with a USB cable.
- Once the device is detected, click Start to scan your device.
- It will categorize the files into 5 types, including junk files, temporary files, photos, large files, apps. You can click 'Clean' button to maximally free up your iPhone 6.
It even takes couple of seconds (say between 5-10) to start the app when the logo is coming up. Very wierd, never experienced something like that with the app, which has been a little bit slow at times but nothing like that. The last problem is when I play a song.
2. Update Apps to the Latest Version

Another reason that can cause the sluggish performance is incompatibility. Some old apps cannot run properly on the latest iOS 14/13 system. Simply open App Store and update them to the latest version.
3. Disable Unimportant Functions
Running iOS 14/13 on old iPhones like iPhone 5/5s/6s/6 could cause some problem. One troubleshooting solution is to disable unimportant functions like motion, background app refresh etc.
![Spotify App Is Super Slow Spotify App Is Super Slow](/uploads/1/3/4/1/134145553/716474645.jpg)
Turn off Background App Refresh: Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Disable it.
4. Reset All Settings
Reset all settings may function well for some users when it comes to improving iOS 14/13 performance on a sluggish iPhone 6/6s. It may reset all your custom settings but won't erase existing data (that's what the Erase All Content and Settings option is for).
Go Setting > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Type your password and confirm.
5. Update iOS System to the Latest iOS 14/13
You can improve poor iOS 14/13 performance by updating your iPhone 6 system to the latest iOS 14/13 version, as iOS 14/13 has greatly improved performance and running speed. Here are 2 ways to update.
- Directly update in your iPhone. Go General>Software Update>Download and Install (Make sure your device is connected to a WLAN network before downloading.)
- Use Tenorshare ReiBoot to update.
1. Select 'Fix All iOS Stuck' from the main interface. Click 'Fix Now'. The software will show you the latest firmware version for you to update.
2. Click 'Download' to download firmware package on your computer and follow the instructions from the program to finish the update.
6. Backup & Restore iOS
One practical and widely used method is to back up your iPhone and restore it. You can choose to back up via iTunes, which can be troublesome. Another ultimate solution is Tenorshare iCareFone, which can selectively back up your files. For the details, please refer to How to Backup and Restore iPhone Data with Tenorshare iCareFone,
Bottom Line
iOS 14/13 sluggish on your iPhone can be so much annoying. I hope the 6 tips provided above can fix the unsatisfying problem and accelerate your iPhone 6 performance. Spotify is my favorite and most used service I have, even more than TV and streaming services. Everyday I use Spotify whether I am in the car, working in the office, cooking, chores, and anytime I want tunes Spotify is on. No software or service is without its flaws and nuances but one issue got to a point I needed to address it. That issue was with the desktop app from Spotify.
Over time the desktop app became slower and slower, less responsive to the point of taking minutes to load one playlist. Uninstalling completely and reinstalling worked for a short time but eventually the app would degrade to that level of poor performance. That told me it wasn’t my machine but something with the app.
I searched for solutions and if others had the same problem and found may posts that did but no good solutions that worked. Until I came across a lone post with complicated steps. I went through those and those worked well.
The problem comes down to the cache management of the Spotify app. Overtime the cache files grow to a size that passed efficiency to the point of being very large and therefore more difficult the computer to use them without expending more memory and processing which becomes counter-productive. The solution is to clear out the cache files and then set a configuration setting in the Spotify setup files to cap the cache size to not bloat.
This post is to simplify those steps for both MacOS and Windows.
MacOS
Spotify Desktop App Slow
- Close Spotify if running. Open Finder.
- Under the Go menu option select Go To Folder. (Shift–Command-G)
- Type in or paste this ~/Library/Caches/com.spotify.client/
- Click Go or hit Enter on the keyboard.
- In this folder you should see a Browser folder, Data, fsCachedData and other files. Delete all the contents. Command-A to select all, move to trash.
- Go back to the Finder. Same as Step 2 and 3 go to folder ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify/
- In this folder, look for a file called perfs.
- Open perfs in a text editor.
- Add the text in bold at the end of the file. This will limit the cache to 1024MN or 1GB. You can set this to whatever you want but this will cap the cache and not let it grow to an unlimited size. storage.size=1024
- Save the file.
- Delete the PersistentCache folder.
Windows
- Note <your username> is your windows login. Go to the folder C:Users<your username>AppDataLocalSpotify.
- Delete these folders – Browser, Storage and Data.
- Go to the C:Users<your username>AppDataRoamingSpotify folder.
- In this folder, look for a file called perfs
- Open perfs in Notepad or other text editor.
- Add the text in bold at the end of the file. This will limit the cache to 1024MN or 1GB. You can set this to whatever you want but this will cap the cache and not let it grow to an unlimited size. storage.size=1024
- Save the file.
Those steps for Mac and Windows should resolve the Spotify desktop performance degradation you are experiencing. It has for me and I wouldn’t waste my time writing this out if it didn’t.
For fun here are my top personal playlists if you are so inclined –
- Baseball Hype Music – Played music for my son’s youth baseball team before and in between innings. This is the playlist.
End of line.
